Accessibility Statement
Last updated: October 26, 2026
Narratives shares stories so that more people can be seen and understood. That only works if everyone can watch, read and navigate our work, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnifiers, captions, voice control or other assistive technology. This statement explains the standard we work to, what we have done and how to tell us about a barrier.
Our standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, the widely recognized standard for accessible websites, as part of our commitment to the Americans with Disabilities Act and similar laws. Accessibility is part of how we design, build and edit the Site, and we review new pages and features against this standard before they launch.
What we have done
- Full written transcripts of our video interviews, published as stories on the Site, so you can read any interview instead of watching it.
- A “skip to content” link and a logical heading structure on every page.
- Menus, search and dialogs that work with a keyboard, show a visible focus indicator and close with the Escape key.
- Story text set in a readable column with strong color contrast.
- No motion on load, and smooth scrolling that respects your device’s reduced motion setting.
- Tap targets sized for touch on phones.
- An accessibility toolbar, available from the button on every page, provided by ComplyMo. It lets you adjust text size, spacing, contrast, color and fonts, highlight links and headings, pause animations, and switch on profiles for seizure safety, low vision, ADHD, cognitive needs, keyboard navigation and screen readers. The toolbar is an extra option. It does not replace our work to make the Site accessible on its own.
Known limitations
- Our videos are hosted on YouTube, and captions on some videos are generated automatically and may contain errors. The written transcripts on the Site are edited for readability, and we can help with any video that does not have one yet.
- Some older pages and images do not yet have full text descriptions. We are adding them as we update the Site.
- The donation form is provided by Zeffy, a third party. If you cannot use it, write to us and we will help you give another way.
Tell us about a barrier
If something on the Site is hard or impossible for you to use, please email admin@narratives.com with the subject line “Accessibility.” Tell us the page, what you were trying to do and, if you are comfortable, the device and assistive technology you use. We aim to reply within 5 business days, and we can provide a transcript or the text of any story in another format on request.
You can also write to Narratives Inc., Attn: Accessibility, 8459 Wilshire Blvd. #5173, Beverly Hills, California 90211.
How we review the Site
We assess the Site ourselves, using automated tools together with manual checks with a keyboard, a screen reader and phones of different sizes. We update this statement when we make significant changes.
